Answers- How exact is the Online Shipping Estimate?
Shipping rates are extremely complex and are difficult to completely automate. These rates are determined by the size and weight of your package. As soon as a package exceeds one cubic foot, dimensional weight comes in to play. Because of this, online shipping rates for the products in your cart are our best estimate for most customers. If our estimate is too low, we will get your permission prior to billing you and shipping the order. If you need an exact shipping estimate prior to the order, call us and our shipping department will provide it. - I can't access your secure online ordering. What is wrong?
You need to enable temporary cookies. We use a cookie to track your items. This cookie automatically expires in 15 minutes. If you still have problems, try a different browser. - What happens after I place an online order?
Once an online order is received, an automatic e-mail message is sent to confirm receipt. At periodic intervals, the online orders are entered into our system. This generates a follow-up e-mail message with the actual order number for your reference. You can then use the order number to check the status of the order. Status is updated hourly. When we invoice an order, we automatically send out an e-mail message to confirm the invoice and to alert you that the order has been shipped. If the shipment method is UPS, the message will include a tracking number. If we cancel your order, we also send an e-mail notice to you, alerting you that the order has been cancelled. As you can see, your e-mail address is important. Please make sure it is correct and keep it up to date. Safe Harbor Computers does not share or sell your e-mail address. We do provide an easy link to opt out of any product mailings we might send to you. - What does 'Usually Ships in 48 Hrs' mean?
This means that at the moment you placed your order, the item marked with a "U" is not in stock.Because we are located in the center of the U.S.A., most of our suppliers are within 1-2 days delivery time from us. That means that in most cases, if we get your order before 4PM and a product is out of stock, we can generally have it sent to us from our suppliers within that 1-2 day window. In some cases, if the need is more urgent, we can arrange to have our supplier ship it directly to you. Occasionally, our suppliers (which usually are the developers as well) might be out of stock due to an impending new version or other reasons. Obviously, if our suppliers are out of stock, and we do not have it, your order will be delayed. We normally do not bill you until your order is shipped to you, so when delays happen, you are not paying for something you do not have. You may call and cancel an order any time before it ships, without penalty. However, please consider that if we are out of stock and cannot get it, generally none of our competitors will have it either. - How will I know when my order is processed?
When your order is processed, you will be sent an automatic email message to notify you that your order has been processed and packaged for shipment to you. As you can see, providing us with a valid e-mail address is important. - Why might I be asked to pay by wire transfer?
For your protection, as well as ours. Some charge cards are difficult or impossible to verify, so to facilitate the processing of your order, we ask that you send your total charges to us, electronically. - How do the Studiophile BX8a 8in Studio Reference Speakers connect to AJA's IO?
With XLR cables. You can either purchase XLR cables if you need them or purchase our bundle which includes the Studiophile speakers and XLR cables (Speakers: Powered Near-Field Monitors w/ XLR connectors: http://www.sharbor.com/p roducts/SAHN5800001.html.) - Does DarkTree 2.5 include plug-in's?
All of the support plug-ins for DarkTree are completely free. The XSI plug-in can be freely downloaded from our web site. Just so that you know, the Mental Ray:Softimage plug-in available on the manufacturer site will soon be replaced with a completely different plug-in. The reason is that the person that wrote this plug-in (third party) very sadly passed away last year and they do not have the source code to support it. They will soon be starting some open source style projects for DarkTree support and already have somebody who has kindly agreed to donate the initial code for new XSI support. You can find further information here:http://www.xsibase.com/forum/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=15 579 About half way down the page there are some instructions and a download link for the current version. - How Can I Determine Which KONA Card is Compatible With My Mac?
Here is a simple guide to determining the right AJA card for your Power Mac or Power Pro computer. Basically you can determine the type of AJA card that is compatible with your system fairly quickly with a quick look inside the machine. You do not even need to know what a PCIe or PCI-X slot looks like.To determine whether your computer has PCI or PCI-X slots, read the ID label, which is located on the side of the computer at the bottom under the air deflector. Your computer's ID label tells you what hardware configuration you have. If your computer has PCI-X slots it will be listed here. If you don't see "PCI-X" your computer has PCI slots. You can also identify your model by the number of DIMM slots. Computers with 4 DIMM slots have 33 MHz PCI slots; computers with 8 DIMM slots have 100 and 133 MHz PCI-X slots. This will take care of the PCI vs. PCI-X for older G5's. All of the PCIe Macs also had dual ethernet cards, so there will be Ethernet 1 and Ethernet 2 MAC addresses on the computer's ID label. These machines also have no mention of the bus type (PCI/PCI-X). Summary: - Determine the number of RAM slots in your computer.
- If there are four (4) RAM slots, your system is incompatible with AJA Kona cards. We recommend you upgrade to a MacPro system or consider one of the Io solutions from AJA.
- If there are eight (8) RAM slots, check the computer ID label.
- If ID Label contains PCI-X, select the Kona LH only. The Kona3 is not compatible.
- If ID label contains two Ethernet MAC addresses and no mention of PCI, the system is PCIe. Kona LHe and Kona3 are both compatible.
- All MacPro systems are PCIe. Both Kona LHe and Kona3 are compatible.
- What is the difference between the RT.X2 and RT.X2 LE models?
The RT.X2 has a DVI output that lets you preview HD video "pixel for pixel" on a compatible computer LCD display. The RT.X2 LE does not have the DVI output, but you can still monitor your HD video using the analog component output of the Matrox breakout box that comes with either RT.X2 card. Just connect any HD display that accepts component HD input to see your video full screen. Also, the RT.X2 LE is a ¾ length card and will fit more PC cases than the RT.X2, which is full-length. Both cards offer the same real-time features, with the DVI output being the only difference in operation. - Can I use the LaCie external Blu-ray burner to watch movies?
The external drive can burn and play CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs through the computer only - it does not have any video output connectors for direct connect to a display. If your computer is powerful enough and has appropriate playback software installed for DVD and/or Blu-ray movies, you can view them on your computer display. If your graphics card features video output, you may be able to connect a home theater display as well. - Which RAID is right for me?
WARNING: The CalDigitRAID card cannot be used to RAID the internal SATA drives on the newer Mac Pros with the Nehalem processors!Mac Pros with older processors work fine however. The Nehalem Mac Pros do not have the ipass connector used by this card. The card can still be used in the Nehalem systems, but only to control an external RAID unit. Safe Harbor offers three product SKUs for our customers. The first is the card only, which is for Mac Users. Everything is supplied with the card to allow the user to move the Apple OS (boot) drive to one of the optical drive bays, leaving the four internal drive bays open for use in a RAID. The user can also elect to leave the OS drive in place and use three internal drives for the RAID, but this does lower the capacity of the RAID. Also for Mac Pro users, we have the RAID card with the special Boot Camp cable. The Boot Camp cable is only needed if the user wishes to access the RAID while running Windows on the Mac, under Boot Camp. All PC users should order the RAID card with the mini-SAS to SATA cable. This cable allows the card to connect with up to four internal SATA drives. This cable is only necessary for PC users!
