| Visa & MasterCard Security Welcome to the most advanced credit card security system ever!Safe Harbor Computers is proud to partner with Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode security services to offer you advanced credit card security. These services are designed to prevent unauthorized use of your credit cards and to help prevent theft of your identity. It will also help merchants stop credit card fraud before it happens! When you use your Visa or MasterCard credit card for online shopping at participating sites like ours, the card number will be automatically recognized during checkout. At this point, a highly-encrypted and secure window will open directly between you and the credit card company. No one, including the merchant , is able to see the contents of this window. The window will display a personal phrase that you created so that you know you are communicating directly with Visa or MasterCard, and not a phony site. The window will also have a space to enter a secret password that only you know. Without this password, a charge card transaction can't be completed! Since only you know the password, your card is protected from fraudulent use. Your secret password, again known ONLY to you, cannot be accessed by anyone else, including the merchant. It will never be printed on the card, so even if you lose your card, your secret account information is safe. You must never ever give your secret password or other account details to anyone, verbally or otherwise, or you put your card in jeopardy for theft and misuse. There are two simple ways you can register a Visa or MasterCard card number for this protection. The first method is to visit either the Visa or MasterCard web site to enroll in their program. The two sites are: VISA: https://usa.visa.com.personal/security/vbv/index.html MasterCard: http://www.mastercard.com/us/personal/en/cardholderservices/securecode/index.html On these sites, you will enroll by creating a personal account, entering a secret password and the simple phrase that you will recognize as proof that you are dealing directly with the credit card company. The same account can be used to register one or more credit cards. The second method is to shop online as you would normally, and if the merchant is a participating merchant, you will be asked during the checkout process if you would like to sign-up with Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, depending on the card type. If you elect to sign-up, a secure private browser window will open directly between you and the card company so you can enter an account name, secret password, and the recognition phrase. Once this has been completed, the checkout process will complete normally. The next time you shop online at a participating merchant, the card will be recognized and the secured window will automatically open between you and the card company. The window will display your recognition phrase and a space to enter your password. If the password is correct, the transaction will proceed normally. If you shop at a non-participating web site, credit card transactions will proceed normally, without the additional level of security afforded by these programs. It's a good idea to shop with merchants who participate in this program. Soon, you will see Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode security programs EVERYWHERE. |
