3Dlabs Inc., Ltd., a leading innovator in professional visual processing, announced that the new Wildcat® Realizm™ 100 graphics accelerators scored highest on seven of the eight SPECviewperf® 8.0.1 benchmarks over competitive AGP 8x-based graphics accelerators. The 3Dlabs Wildcat Realizm 100 AGP 8x professional graphics accelerator performed so well, in fact, that it also achieved five of the eight highest scores when compared to all submitted competitors’ PCI Express solutions. 3Dlabs is a wholly owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq: CREAF). "3Dlabs has set a new industry standard in workstation graphics performance," said Hock Leow, president of 3Dlabs. "By outperforming our closest AGP 8x competitor by up to 60% on a leading benchmark and outperforming all competitors’ PCI Express solutions on five of the eight Viewperf tests, it’s clear that the Wildcat Realizm 100 is the best overall professional graphics accelerator on the market. We expect the Wildcat Realizm 200 with 512 MB of memory to perform equally well." The best overall workstation was equipped with an AMD Opteron™ processor Model 150 and a Wildcat Realizm 100 graphics accelerator and achieved the highest scores on the 3dsmax-03, Catia-01, Maya-01 and SW-01 benchmarks with respective scores of 42.87, 26.35, 51.12 and 26.58. "Together, AMD and 3Dlabs have broken graphics barriers, offering our customers unprecedented performance on AMD Opteron processor-based workstations," said Ben Williams, vice president of enterprise and server/workstation business in AMD’s Computation Products Group. "Today’s Viewperf 8.0.1 benchmark scores are a tremendous achievement for both companies as we work together to exceed our customers’ performance demands." SPECviewperf 8.0.1 Benchmark SPECviewperf is an OpenGL® performance benchmark program written in C language. It was developed by IBM and later updates and significant contributions were made by SPECopcSM project group members. Viewperf provides a vast amount of flexibility in benchmarking OpenGL performance. Currently, the program runs on most implementations of UNIX, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Linux operating systems. The newest version of the industry standard benchmark, Viewperf 8, was released on August 11, 2004 at the SIGGRAPH 2004 industry tradeshow in Los Angeles, California, USA.
