| Rimage and TDK Announce Thermal Printable Blu-ray Discs Rimage Corporation, a leader in disc publishing, and TDK, a world leader in digital recording solutions, have announced the release of the industry's first thermal printable Blu-ray disc. The discs are on display at TDK booth #C10741 and Rimage booth #SL1843 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, which is taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 24-27, 2006.By combining Rimage's innovative direct-to-disc print technology with thermal printable Blu-ray discs from TDK, the two companies have created a powerful information storage medium that can hold up to 25 GB of critical data. Rimage's EverestTM thermal retransfer technology enables users to create permanent, colorful, high-resolution prints bonded directly to the surface of a CD or DVD. The resulting print is professional looking and virtually indestructible — impervious to water, scratches and dirt. TDK Blu-ray Discs provide recording technology from the only media company that's a founding member of the Blu-ray Disc Association. 25GB single-layer recordable and rewritable discs enable massive data backups and the highest resolution HD recording. The new thermal printable Blu-ray discs enable users to print custom text and graphics directly on the label-side surface of the disc using the Rimage Everest printer. Rimage Corporation has also announced the release of a new enterprise-quality Blu-ray disc publishing solution. The new solution incorporates up to four Pioneer BDR-101A Blu-ray Disc/DVD writers with Rimage Producer III disc publishers for automatically creating large volumes of professional CDs and DVDs with customized digital content and direct-to-disc printed labels. Rimage also announced today the industry's first thermal printable Blu-ray disc with leading digital recording solutions company TDK. The combined announcements result in a robust Blu-ray disc publishing solution from Rimage that leverages the company's unique direct-to-disc thermal retransfer print technology and quickly produces DVDs with 25 GB of storage capacity. The Pioneer BDR-101A allows professional users to test and author high-definition Blu-ray disc content, while also delivering the ability for high-capacity data storage. The drive can read BD-ROM discs, read/write single layer BD-R and BD-RE discs, read DVD-ROM, and read/write most DVD recordable media formats. " Last updated April 25, 2006 at 11:15am |
