News a Safe Harbor blogWEVA Announces Video Licensing Agreement with ImageSpan
Next week at WEVA's Wide World of Weddings & Events at PMA 08, the new winter convention for videographers being held in Las Vegas, WEVA and ImageSpan Inc., will officially announce the details of an exclusive, and groundbreaking, agreement for providing all WEVA members with an easy way to license and sell their digital content (current and stored video) using ImageSpan’s new "LicenseStream" technology. As reported in WEVA’s December issue of Wedding & Event Videography Resource Guide, co-produced by NewBay Media, LicenseStream offers video producers a revolutionary new way to license digital content in minutes, and increase product demand by speeding the transaction process and avoiding major legal hurdles. Now, with a few mouse clicks, videographers can upload, register, describe, and define rights to their work and then market and license that work online all without paperwork, pricing hassles or middlemen. The new licensing program developed exclusively for WEVA members offers professional videographers unique advantages that would otherwise cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to access any other way, and will include built-in avenues for creating new income streams based on digital content videographers are currently producing, or already have in stored files. "The new program represents an historic, 'industry-first' that gives individual videographers the ability to market, license, and sell their own digital video and imaging products quickly and easily – and on a global scale," said WEVA International founder and chairman Roy Chapman. "With the demand for all types of digital video content exploding around the globe, this brand new program is a tangible, real-world advantage for all WEVA members in the new online video world of today." Cutting-edge media companies have already begun using the advantage of ImageSpan’s licensing technology through its revolutionary CurbStream platform. CurbStream enables the assignment of local shoots to WEVA members worldwide and automatically enables the content to be rights-cleared and licensable for use. WEVA members can register (at no cost) for local shoots and upload raw footage via CurbStream’s easy-to-use online interface. "Due to WEVA’s strategic partnership with ImageSpan, the development of a simple, online licensing vehicle for WEVA members has been a logical 'next-step' for our evolving industry," Chapman said. "The new system will help WEVA members get fair pay for their work without fear of copyright issues and without the expense of lawyers and third-party agencies, and will offer many other unique advantages. Full details will be announced next week in Las Vegas when the new program is unveiled at WEVA's Wide World of Weddings & Events at PMA 08." Open to all industry professionals, the winter convention (Jan. 29 - Feb. 2) offers early-bird discount registration online at www.weva.com/convention. Register today!
