Waukesha, WI – June 7, 2011 – Safe Harbor Computers, a leading supplier to video and 3D animation professionals, today announced that they will be exhibiting at the 5th annual Illinois Videographers Association Midwest Expo, June 28, 2011. Demonstrating unique features of the Atomos Ninja, alongside the power of Safe Harbor’s custom-built Tsunami and Mac Pro workstations, attendees will experience hands-on benefits of the latest hardware and software. The Atomos Ninja, a rugged and portable 10-bit field recorder for video cameras and DSLRs with HDMI, will be mounted to a Sony video camera for demonstration purposes. The battery-powered unit takes the live uncompressed HDMI feed from a camcorder and saves it to a 2.5" hard drive in the 10-bit ProRes format with 4:2:2 quality, bypassing the compression cameras use when saving HD video to tape or memory card. The captured ProRes files can then be immediately edited in Final Cut Pro without Log and Transfer or any type of transcoding needed. The ProRes clips will also play in Premiere Pro CS5.5 for PC users. Functionality will be demonstrated on both platforms. Also featured will be Safe Harbor’s custom built Tsunami workstations powered by Adobe Production Premium CS5.5 and NVIDIA Quadro by PNY. About WEVA EventDV to Unveil EVENTDV 25 at 4EVER Group Convention Awards Banquet January 9
The EVENTDV 25 honors the 25 "hottest" or most influential videographers working in the field today. "Our industry has excellent awards programs that recognize superior individual works and honor lifetime achievement," said EventDV editor Stephen F. Nathans. "But until now there's been no award designed specifically for videographers who are exerting a profound influence on the field right now. That's where the EVENTDV 25 comes in. Think of it as our 2005 All-Star Team." EventDV began accepting nominations from its readers in July through an online voting system, and convened an Executive Committee comprised of five of the top videographers in the business to consider candidates for the list and debate key criteria. Nathans served as moderator for the committee. "There's more to being hot or influential than winning awards, as we discovered," Nathans said. "And just because you were a major player in the field 10 years ago doesn't mean your peers still regard you as influential today." The main criteria for inclusion include the following: creating innovative or award-winning work, speaking at conferences, developing educational materials like instructional DVDs, contributing to magazines and online forums, and taking leadership roles in local and national associations. "For each honoree," Nathans said, "the qualifications were a little different." Sponsors for the EVENTDV 25 are Sony and JVC. The EVENTDV 25 will be presented in two places: at the 4EVER Group's Video 06 on January 9, and in the cover story of the January 2006 issue of EventDV. The EVENTDV 25 awards will be presented to honorees on the opening night of the convention at the Video 06 awards banquet, which runs from 7-11 PM.
