As these are "file based" formats there is no capture support - you simply copy the data from a camera onto a machine and then playout via DeckLink, Multibridge, or Intensity. There are presets for all of the above formats, so you can use native sequences with CUDA support - just make sure the footage frame size and frame rate matches the sequence you're trying to play it in. There will be a Mac specific update coming soon. You can download the Windows update here: http://www.decklink.com/support/software/ Features
- 4 Lane PCI Express: Multibridge includes a 4 lane PCI Express Adapter and 4 Lane PCI Express connection cable so you get the speed for all video formats.
- 2K Feature Film Resolution: Multibridge Eclipse has the speed of PCI Express combined with support for an Apple 30 inch Cinema display when used with the new HDLink Pro and a 30 inch DVI-D computer monitor. That allows the full resolution of a 30 inch display to be used for native play back 2K feature film resolution, so you see pixel for pixel feature film resolution. That's because Multibridge with PCI Express supports the new 3 Gb/s SDI with 2K real-time playback. When combined with HDLink Pro, large 30 inch 2560 x 1600 resolution displays can be used for native 2048 x 1556 playback. Imagine editing 2K video in real-time at full resolution without proxies.
- Capture Gamma Tables: Capture video direct from log video sources by using custom gamma tables loaded into the DeckLink system preference. DeckLink uses the same gamma table technology and file format as the popular HDLink DVI converter, so you can reuse your custom gamma tables facility wide. You can even customize lift, gain and gamma settings for each RGB channel, if you're simply color balancing input video. We also include Panasonic™ and Grass Valley Viper™ camera standard gamma tables, allowing instant setup when on the production set.
- Flexible Rack Mount: Multibridge was designed with a compact rack mount design letting you mount in equipment racks for large system installation, or remove the rack brackets and install the included rubber feet for desktop use. Multibridge models are extremely compact, so you can install in the front or rear side of equipment racks, saving valuable equipment space.
- Configure and Update via USB: Forget annoying DIP switches, as Multibridge features all settings and software updates via built-in USB 2.0 connection and the easy to use Multibridge Utility software for Windows™ and Mac OS X™.
- Connect Everyone Together: Check the Workgroup Videohub as the best way to connect your editing system to decks electronically. Workgroup Videohub is a professional routing switcher that lets you connect everyone together via SDI video. Connections can be changed electronically via software based control panels running right on your editing system computer!
- Offline Editing: Check out DeckLink cards for a low cost offline editing tool. File formats are identical between Multibridge and DeckLink cards, and most editing software has full EDL support, so you can edit offline work for episodic television production, or feature film work, and then export EDL’s for any editing system. Or just move project files from system to system.
- The Famous Blackmagic Codec: The world famous Blackmagic Codec allows highest rendering quality on Multibridge. Unlike other products, only the Blackmagic Codec features correct anti aliasing 4:2:2 color filtering, so RGB graphics convert to correct 4:2:2 YUV video-space without aliasing problems.
- Blackmagic Deck Control: Blackmagic Deck Control application lets you capture and play clips, and it takes care of communicating with decks via RS-422. Blackmagic Deck Control software is easy to use, and just enter an IN and OUT timecode point, and select grab, or put, and your clip will be transferred between Multibridge and your broadcast deck. It’s all automatic, so it’s fast. Blackmagic Deck Control is compatible with both Mac OS X™ and Windows™. You can even grab still frames from decks!
Capture and Playback Multibridge connects to your computer via PCI Express and works just like a capture and playback card that plugs into your Mac or PC. All electronics are contained in a compact external chassis connected to your computer via an included PCI Express cable and plug in board. This unique design allows space for lots of video and audio connections, and you can use Multibridge as a video converter when not connected to your computer. Multibridge is fully compatible with your favorite video software such as Apple Final Cut Pro™, Adobe® Premiere Pro® and more. High speed 10 Gb/s PCI Express has 25 times faster bandwidth than FireWire so editing is responsive. Connect to Anything Multibridge supports SDI, HDMI and analog video input and output, and capture and playback from any SDI, HDMI or analog broadcast deck, camera or monitor. Use Multibridge as a bidirectional video converter and convert from SDI to analog and HDMI, and analog to SDI and HDMI simultaneously. For the widest compatibility, SDI, HDMI and analog component connections switch instantly between standard definition and high definition. With support for Dual Link SDI and 3 Gb/s SDI, you can capture and play back 4:4:4 video when used with decks such as Sony HDCAM SR™, or play back in real-time 2K film resolution at 24 fps with Blackmagic Design's HDLink Pro. More Audio Connections No other editing system has such a wide range of audio connections and metering. Multibridge Eclipse supports a massive 12 channels of AES/EBU digital audio on balanced XLR connectors, as well as 4 channels of pro balanced analog audio on XLR connectors. It also supports sample rate converters on AES/EBU inputs for the widest plug and play audio compatibility, and includes 2 channel RCA audio outputs for low cost HiFi monitoring. New 3 Gb/s SDI Connections Multibridge Pro is the first editing solution to include high speed 3 Gb/s SDI connections. 3 Gb/s SDI is the latest version of the SDI video standard that allows 4:4:4 RGB and 2K film connection with a single BNC type connection. 3 Gb/s SDI runs twice the data rate of normal HD-SDI video, however instantly switches to traditional standard definition and high definition SDI. 3 Gb/s SDI allows 4:4:4 RGB workflow or full resolution 2K feature film quality 24 fps 2048 x 1556 capture and playback. 2K via SDI allows a revolutionary change to feature film workflow as now you can connect film resolution video around your facility easily as video is handled today. This eliminates retraining time and cost when you want to work on film projects. The All-in-one Converter When you disconnect the PCI Express cable from the host computer you have the ideal solution for converting analog equipment to SDI-based digital systems, as all Multibridge models will instantly switch into a bi-directional broadcast video and audio converter. Simultaneously convert from digital to analog, and analog to digital all at the same time with selectable audio embedding and de-embedding. Built in HDMI You'll love the full resolution HDMI input and output built into Multibridge. Use the HDMI output for connecting to any HDMI television or video projector for full HD resolution monitoring at much lower cost than a dedicated HD broadcast monitor. Imagine presenting your work to your clients using cinema size large screen video projectors or televisions! Use the built in HDMI input for capturing from cameras with HDMI outputs. Unlike FireWire capture, using the HDMI output of consumer cameras means you get the highest quality uncompressed video from the camera, and your video files can use the native compression of your editing software, such as uncompressed, JPEG, DVCPRO HD, and ProRes. Unlike FireWire compression, the native compression of your editing software lets you use real-time effects and real-time playback direct to large screen displays and broadcast monitors. World's Highest Quality Fully compatible with SDI and HD-SDI 4:2:2, Multibridge Eclipse also features Dual Link HD-SDI 4:4:4 connections for feature film quality. Dual Link 4:4:4 is used on the latest Sony HDCAM SR decks, and contains additional color detail giving you full RGB color bandwidth and extra precision of up to 10 bit SDI video. When connected via PCI Express to a host computer, this higher quality video can be captured and played back completely uncompressed for amazing feature film quality. Multibridge also takes a new lead in quality with the latest 3 Gb/s SDI technology, so you can connect RGB 4:4:4 and 2K via a single SDI connection. 3 Gb/s SDI technology is the video standard of the future for post production, and allows "beyond HDTV resolutions". Multibridge is ideal for connecting to Digital Betacam™, Panasonic HD-D5™ or the new Sony HDCAM SR decks. Uncompressed 10 bit video is the highest quality possible from the SDI television system, and only uncompressed video will hold up under heavy working conditions demanded by clients today while retaining a delicate film look. Standard Definition, HDTV or 2K Film Multibridge features dual rate SDI and are completely format independent, so you can switch between high definition or standard definition instantly. Easily connect to 270 Mb/s standard definition SDI equipment such as Digital Betacam. As well as 1.485 Gb/s high definition SDI equipment such as HDCAM, HD-D5. Because Multibridge includes the extreme quality of Dual Link SDI connections, you can work in 10 bit 4:4:4, and connect to the latest decks such as Sony HDCAM SR. With the ability to update new formats via USB, you can connect to virtually any equipment, now and in the future. With built in 3 Gb/s SDI, you can connect 4:4:4 with a single SDI cable, or even edit in high resolution 2K film in real-time. Compatible with all Video Software Multibridge includes a high speed PCI Express connection so you can connect to a host computer, and then use a wide range of video software for video capture and playback. Multibridge is compatible with QuickTime™ and DirectShow so you can use any supported video software in standard definition, high definition, or even 4:4:4 10 bit RGB HD. Unlike pre-built systems, with Multibridge you can customize your system for different tasks simply by selecting the video software you prefer to use. Use Final Cut Pro™ on Mac OS X™ and Premiere Pro on Windows™ or Mac OS X™ for editing, then combine After Effects®, Fusion™ and Photoshop® for broadcast design and paint. Then finish your job by using DVD authoring software to give your clients a DVD. That’s unlimited flexibility to work in any way you want. Finally the choice is yours. Down Conversion and Real Time Effects Multibridge features massive processing power, that is fantastic for broadcast quality HD down conversion and other processing based features. Down conversion is great when Multibridge Eclipse is plugged into Mac OS X and Windows platforms via the built-in PCI Express connection. Even complex multi layer HD editing can be down converted and played out in standard definition all in real-time. Down conversion uses our custom polyphase interpolation and filtering for incredible quality at the highest 10 bit precision. Loads of Software Utilities Free Multibridge includes the famous DeckLink software, when connected to a host computer via PCI Express, giving you a wide range of free software utilities. For broadcast graphics and paint, we include Photoshop plug-ins for capture and output of still frames. If you need DPX image sequence, our new FrameLink lets you access QuickTime™ and AVI media as DPX files instantly. The famous Deck Control application lets you control a deck remotely via RS-422 and capture and play clips to and from tape with timecode accuracy, which is great for broadcast designers. For easy disk array setup we include Disk Speed Test, for a real-world check of your capture disk, with speed results displayed in easy to understand video frames per second. When moving media between systems, use the free Blackmagic Software Codec for opening and rendering media even when you don’t have hardware installed. Connection Diagram
