Vue 6 xStream provides a unique, unmatched solution for creating and integrating high quality natural scenery into any professional production pipeline, from architectural visualization to broadcast and film.

Creating, Loading and Editing Vue Content
Vue 6 xStream lets you create and edit Vue scenes either in stand-alone mode (so you can later load them into your application), or from within Maya/Max/LightWave/C4D/XSI, using the xStream interface (this allows you to modify the Vue elements as you work on the combined scene).

Any Vue scene can be loaded directly into your favorite application, including complete EcoSystems, all types of atmospheres, cameras, lighting, all plants, all terrain types and all procedural materials*.

Animated scenes can be loaded as well, including wind animations for plants and EcoSystems, atmosphere and cloud animations, and all animated materials.

All imported meshes included in the Vue scene will be loaded as well*.

The complete scene is loaded in one go (just like native scene files). The whole Vue scene is treated a single object. Lights are automatically converted into their Maya/Max/LightWave/Cinema counterparts, and the atmosphere is converted into a special environment shader.

Integrated Rendering

Compatibility

  • xStream for Maya works with both Mental Ray and Maya software renderer.
  • xStream for Max works with Max Mental Ray.
  • xStream for LightWave, Cinema 4D and XSI work with the native renderers.

The render process
Upon rendering, xStream kicks-in its own render engine, which works in parallel to the native renderer. This assures that the Vue elements will look exactly as if they were rendered inside Vue, and also helps speeding up the rendering of polygon-heavy elements such as terrains and EcoSystems.

However, this is a completely transparent process. There is no need to deal with the xStream renderer. Parameters such as render resolution and anti-aliasing quality need only to be set for the native renderer.

G-buffer and Multi-Pass Rendering
Vue 6 xStream also offers powerful g-buffer and multi-pass rendering features, for an even greater post-processing flexibility.

Editing Vue Elements
At any time when you wish to edit the Vue environment while working inside your favorite application, you simply launch the xStream interface. This lets you use unique Vue tools to modify the Vue element. All modifications are automatically and instantly updated, so there’s no need to re-save and re-load anything.

You can also create and edit Vue scenery in stand-alone mode, as you would with Vue 6 Infinite. Of course, any saved scene can later be loaded into Maya/Max/Lightwave/C4D/XSI, and can be further modified along with the native scene.

Display
Because some Vue elements are unique (e.g. EcoSystems), xStream uses Vue’s dedicated OpenGL technology to display them accurately. You have the option to turn off the Vue OpenGL, or change display quality to speed up refresh rates for very large Vue scenes.

File Management
Stand-alone Vue scenes are saved in Vue format. Combined scenes are saved either in the native format of your 3D application, or can be split as native/Vue scenes. In this case, the native scene will reference the Vue scene.

*Animated or re-posed Poser figures, as well as Poser objects rendered using the Poser shader tree cannot be loaded with the Vue scene.
