| You can control the instances using null objects or existing geometry, with randomized scaling, rotation and colorization options! The instances follow the base object exactly including all animation, plus they have their own scaling and rotation applied on top! HD Instance renders a little slower than LightWave (it's about 2 to 4 times slower) but it can render thousands or even millions of instances of high-polygon objects, literally trillions of instanced polygons! If you've ever needed piles and piles of clones, this is the plug-in for you! Requires:

It does something that would be extremely difficult if not impossible in how it clones high poly geometry hundreds or even thousands of times with little effort. It's so easy to set up that the documentation literally fits in a single paragraph. Worth every penny. The only thing I wish it would do is allow me to randomize the animation or MDD of a character that I'm cloning. Reviewed on March 21, 2005 by David Liu (daveliu@...). I had very heavy objects, which I deformed with bones. I needed as many as I could render with 1GB of RAM, and that appeared to be about 20.Now I render 120 in about 25% of the rendertime, and my interface is still responsive! Reviewed on February 4, 2005 by Daniel Dugour (anitime@...). We are using HD instance to drop in 15000 seats into the previz of our new basketball arena. The polygon numbers would have been huge, but HD instance handled it easily. The render time is a little slower, and we did get some weirdness when we rendered out the seats with the rest of the arena. This problem was solved by rendering the seats out in their own pass. I look forward to playing with this plug in some more. I do recommend it though. Reviewed on November 22, 2003 by Erik Elvgren (ece3k@...). HD instance is cool indeed . It allows you to ad thousands of clones in a fraction of time without using extra RAM . The clones can easily be rotated, sized and scaled and change color ... with only a few mouseclicks . It even clones a hierarchy of objects : just choose the parent object and the children will instantly be cloned . HD instance makes landscape creating a breeze ... Slighty higher rendertimes ... than a standard lightwave scene .(but doesn't waste your RAM !) BUT : Would be more cool if the following features were supported : 1.
