HDV and Blu-ray for RT.X2 Specifications

This class is designed for RT.X2 users considering HD video production and Blu-ray delivery, as well as those who may already be testing the waters but need some additional guidance. We’ll sort through the entire process and explain things in plain English so that you can move forward and be productive, avoiding common mistakes that can cost you both time and money.

What is HDV?
Takes a look at the technical aspects of the format in its various flavors, including MPEG-2 compression, pixel aspect, intermediate codecs, and acquisition methods including tape, hard drive and flash card.

HD Formats supported by the RT.X2

HD Project Settings for RT.X2
It is vitally important to choose the proper project preset before capturing any video or beginning any editing project. The many options can be confusing, and we’ll help you get it right the first time.

HD Capture Methods
See how to get your footage into the RT.X2, using enhanced options not offered by Premiere Pro alone, via 1394 or analog input. Learn why analog may be better than 1394 capture for some projects, using the Matrox MPEG-2 I-Frame HD codec.

Workflow for HDV, including archiving
There are many workflows available when working with HD content. We’ll discuss the options, and when to use each one depending on your desired delivery format.

Export to MPEG-2 and H.264 for Blu-ray
Learn about the various MPEG-2 and H.264 encoding options in the Matrox Media Encoder and determine the suitability of each for your workflow.

What is Blu-ray?
Specifications for the Blu-ray disc format, such as BD-R and BD-RE, compatible audio codecs, authoring and duplication/replication options. What you need to know before leaping into Blu-ray authoring and delivery.

Burning Blu-ray with Adobe Encore CS3
Find out how to create a Blu-ray disc with a few simple mouse clicks for quick and dirty HD delivery, and we’ll also look at menu and chaptering options available in Adobe Encore CS3.

What Customers are Saying About Safe Harbor
I bought my first Amiga, Video Toaster and time-base-corrector from you about 15 years ago. I was shopping around and I remember that the competition said we dont sell that, that's computer stuff. You guys were the first and the best for computer video equipment. - Steve
