There are a very very few mistakes of an image in comparison with the other products which I experienced. I use MacOSX version. Processing speed is good. Value:  Features:  Quality:  Overall:  Forget about Digital Confusion - use X-DOF After wrestling with rendering errors caused by Digital Confusion for a month I finally broke down and ordered X-DOF. Not only does it give me more reliable renders (I have yet to experience any rendering artifacts) I was also surprised to find that my files rendered faster (about 15% faster in fact) and the image quality was superior to even my best results when I was using Digital Confusion. One has to wonder why Newtek would try to provide their own faster solution for Depth-of-Field rendering when this plug-in seems to have already mastered it. Value:  Features:  Quality:  Overall:  Why isn't this already built into Lightwave? Saw the glorious pics on Evasion 3D's website and thought, yeah, I could do with some of that. And I've not been disappointed. X-Dof does exactly what it purports: it creates photorealistic, extremely shallow depth-of-field images with a quality and clarity far in excess of Lightwave's own meagre DoF system. It's ridiculously simple to set up and use and provides a built-in method for selecting your focal point - a pull-down menu lets you select any object, or, if you prefer, a null. All elements can be enveloped and animated and the results speak for themselves. Oh, and it's pretty quick too - although if you have a VERY narrow DoF and you're extremely close to an object, the extreme amount of blur required can take a long time. Usually, though, X-Dof is a 20-30-second hit on a render pass, or even less. Once you've used it, you'll always be tempted to render with it! (I got the Mac version and it works perfectly.)
