Do you have content archived on older generation LTO4, LTO5 or LTO6 tapes? If so, you need to migrate this content to newer generation LTO technology to ensure these archives continue to be accessible in the future. mRack Migrate features one LTO-6 drive and one LTO-8 drive so you can move content from older generation TAR* or LTFS tapes to LTO-7 or LTO-8 media.
Simply attach mRack Migrate to your Mac's Thunderbolt port and use the included YoyottaID LTFS software to migrate older tapes to newer generation tapes.
mRack Migrate is not just for tape migration. The system can restore content from LTO-4/5/6 tapes and archive new content to LTFS formatted LTO-7 or LTO-8 tapes. Any source (camera cards, hard drives, RAIDs, etc.) can be archived to mRack Migrate using the include YoyottaID LTFS software.
YoYotta software names, formats, mounts and repairs tape archives. During the archive YoYotta calculates MD5 checksums and then automatically uses these to read back and verify every file. YoYotta remembers the contents of every tape created so later on you can search to find the location of shots.
The Linear Tape File System is a standard format for writing files to tape. It's ideal for storing production and post media as the LTO tapes can be mounted and read on Linux, macOS and Windows.
