Up to four HD camera feeds can be simultaneously accepted, and 4K signals can be carried via a single 12G-SDI or quad 3G-SDI connections. Support for 16 channels of embedded audio deliver multi-lingual broadcasts with ease. Multiple bitrates and resolutions can be input simultaneously without interference, which is particularly useful for remote monitoring. The utility of the encoder is bolstered thanks to the flexibility of its streaming protocols, with options for both open and encrypted streaming. For those broadcasts which may be edited for future use, the encoder simultaneously records and broadcasts video inputs without reducing quality on either end.

Bidirectional tally and talkback signals ensure camera operators and video technicians stay on the same page during productions with many moving parts. Localized preview via DisplayPort shows up to four video inputs simultaneously for effective monitoring. These settings and more can be modified by choosing one of Matrox's Monarch EDGE control options. Monarch EDGE Command Hub can be installed on Windows computers or Monarch EDGE Command Center can be accessed directly from any web browser without the need to install any additional software. Quick access to settings is available via the front-facing LCD screen on the durable and compact casing. The encoder is small enough to be installed in one half of a rack unit, allowing one to pair it with a second encoder, Monarch EDGE decoder, or redundant power supply unit for added peace-of-mind during power outages (available separately).
